ABOUT THE OCEAN-BLESSED INTENTION CANDLE

May whoever lights this candle with intention receive everything you wish for — or something better.

A clean-burning, unscented candle made from plant-based, paraffin-free wax derived from sustainably harvested palm oil. I brought these candles to Ocean Beach in San Francisco, CA for ritual, and invited them to be blessed by the wild Pacific and our benevolent ancestors.

This collage piece was part of a 28-day art challenge to celebrate National Arts Month in February of 2017. Dakila, an organization that the artist, Miko, helped shape, spearheaded this challenge.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Miko Aguilar is a Filipino multimedia artist with a passion for music, photography, video production, graphic design, and music production. He has experience hosting a travel show on national TV in the Philippines, running a non-profit organization, and touring with his band and a solo spoken word project. In addition to his professional pursuits, Miko volunteers as a creative director with the Dance Music Initiative and as a technical director with San Diego Filipino Cinema. He is also actively involved in two musical projects: Qolaj, a dance music project, and Umbra Maze, a rock-electronica duo.
